Over the years the hibiscus world has seen some prolific hybridizers. I think of Augie Miller in Hawaii who gave us so many cultivars still in existence today.  Go to his special tribute page I compiled from notes supplied by Geoff Harvey from Buderim, Queensland, Australia.

These hybrids formed a large portion of Jim Howie's Australian Hibiscus Nomenclature in 1980.  The handbook is also full of information.

Of course, the last 25 years has seen an explosion with new cultivars daily being added to the list.  The Internet has allowed instant sharing of information and there are some very active hybridizers.  One of the most famous right now is Richard Johnson in Tahiti.  A representative list of others follows with links to further information where available.

This section of The World of Hibiscus is not yet ready for completion - I haven't started it yet.  However, at the passing of my friend, Richard Mansbridge, I felt compelled to do this first section.
